Stroncato dal cancro Reg E. Cathey, dopo anni di malattia
L’attore Reg E. Cathey, che interpretava Freddy in House of Cards ed apparso in The Wire, è morto a 59 anni dopo una lunga lotta contro il cancro.
Conosciuto per la sua voce baritonale, Reg aveva iniziato a recitare nel 1984 nel telefilm A Doctor’s Story. Ha recitato in numerosi programmi televisivi, interpretando Norman Wilson nelle stagioni quattro e cinque di The Wire e in Grimm, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, House of Cards e Outcast.
Cathey ha vinto un Emmy come miglior attore non protagonista in una serie drammatica nel 2015, per il ruolo del cuoco giardiniere Freddy in House of Cards, ruolo valsogli la nomination allo stesso premio anche nelle edizioni 2014 e 2016.

Cathey è anche apparso in The Mask di Jim Carrey e Cameron Diaz e interpretato il coroner in Se7en di David Fincher e si è unito al mondo del teatro nel 2009, per interpretare Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding nella produzione londinese di The Shawshank Redemption.
