Ironsight preview
I’ll be frank, when I first saw Ironsight, my first reaction was sorta like “yet another FPS F2P” but i was prejudicing something I didn’t know yet. Because yeah, maybe it can be “yet another FPS” but in the end it’s not the genre that makes the game but how this is made.

Ironsight is a Sud Corean FPS with american spirit, and I can sense the inspiration wheel from Call of Duty. You can see how much Ironsight got inspired from it from the dedicated server, it’s a great thing for a free to play game, rare to find and it awesome, especially for FPSs. There are some bugs, like soldiers who run on the same spot without apparently moving, but since its beta, its expected to see.

The gameplay is the usual: aim, shoot, run, taking cover. Its actually difficult to take cover since Iron sight takes inspiration from CoD so we have these soldiers who run like crazy without consuming too much stamina. And its strange to see the whole map in one run with the stamina still on the way. Maps are four in total – hoping to see more after the beta – all of them really well made even though when you look around, especially out of the map, the elements start to disappear, there is not much decoration out of the map. It’s near empty that you can read it on the line horizon even though its not written: “Work in progress”. By the way, as I said, maps are really well made where player are meant to be, and I like that two map on four are dynamic, with elements that are actually moving.

The Game modes are Search and Destroy, Capture the flag (or zone) and Death Match. Talking about equipment, we have a first weapon rifle, a second, and melee. And Drones. Whether they attack of defending, these drones are really weird; because they can be used but once you used them they need to cool down for enough time to play 2-3 matches without having to use them. The cool down reduces quickly if you kill enemies, but it’s still strange to see such gameplay mechanic. Normally, perks like this can be used on every match, clearly, they still have cool down, but not that long. The Graphics Engine its really great and I have to say pretty optimized. In fact, despite some maps being dynamic, we can play the game without a dedicated GPU. I could notice from the 60 fps, putting the game under 720p and with all graphics options on low just using my processor – i5 4460 – and my 8 gigs ram.

It’s still early to judge Ironsight, but from what can I see now, it’s a great shooter with a bright future. Lookin’ forward to see this out of the beta phase. Meanwhile, you can access to the game here.
