Il remake prodotto da Amazon Studios dell’apprezzato thriller psicologico Goodnight Mommy ha trovato la sua protagonista : Naomi Watts (The Ring, Mulholland Drive).
A dirigere il film sarà Matt Sobel (Take Me To The River) che lavorerà su una sceneggiatura di Kyle Warren.
Il regista ha dichiarato : “My favorite films are those that invite the audience to step inside their protagonist’s journey. In our re-imagining fear of abandonment — and the dreadful realization that those close to us may not be who they seem — create an immersive nightmare, with visceral sensations front and center. I can’t wait to create this heart-stopping story with Amazon and the peerless Naomi Watts.“
La Watts sarà anche produttrica esecutiva con i registi del film originale Severin Fiala e Veronika Franz. David Kaplan, Joshua Astrachan, Valery Guibal, il film sarà distribuito da Amazon.
Goodnight Mommy racconta la storia di due inquietanti gemelli che accolgono in casa loro madre, di ritorno dopo un intervento ricostruttivo al viso che l’ha lasciata coperta di bende, i due però diventano via via sospettosi riguardo alla vera identità di loro madre.
